47th Annual Maple Lake Ice Fishing Derby

Maple Lake – Lake Property Owner’s Association, Inc. was established in 1970, to protect Maple Lake and the surrounding natural environment. In September of 2013, the IRS granted the Association 501(c)3 Charitable Organization status. Members strive to preserve the pristine waters of Maple Lake, located in Wright County, Minnesota. AS OF 1.31.2022 MN DNR HAS REQUIRED THAT NO CARS OR TRUCKS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE ICE DURING THE 2022 MAPLE LAKE ICE FISHING DERBY DUE TO ICE THICKNESS.
IF ICE CONDITIONS IMPROVE DERBY STATUS WILL BE UPDATED CLOSER TO FEBRUARY 5TH.
*All cars and trucks should be off of the ice after 9PM Friday night until the Derby is over.
*Permanent fish houses will be allowed (to be brought onto the ice) prior to the 9PM cut-off.
*Only ATVs and snowmobiles be used Saturday. Portable fish houses are a good alternative.
*Trolleys will be available to get around at the Derby on the lake provided by Deer Lake Orchard powered by Moon Motorsports Ranger’s.
*Shuttle buses to get to/from the lake/town provided by M & M Bus Service will run from 8AM to 12 Midnight.
*There will be an area at the Hwy 55 boat landing to drop off ATV’s & snowmobiles on Saturday.
THERE WILL BE TWO SHUTTLES RUNNING AND ANTICIPATE STOPPING AT DROP-OFF POINTS EVERY 10 MINUTES.
Buses will depart the Hwy 55 Lake Access landing:
(Two new stops this year: H&H & ML Bowl)
-Parking lots behind H&H
-Maple Lake High School parking lot
-Maple Lake Bowling Alley
-Madigan’s/”The V” parking area
-Finally at the St. Timothy’s school parking lot
*Contest hours are from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
The contest will begin and end with the sound of a starter’s horn. Fish must be entered by 3:00 PM. They must be weighed in immediately when caught and be alive.
* All Minnesota game laws apply. Remember the Northern Pike slot limits. Northern Pike between 22 & 26” are not eligible.
*All fishing lines must be out of the water prior to 12 PM. Judges will check your fish houses for compliance.
*Fishing must take place on “Big” Maple Lake. Maintain ample distance between vehicles and fishing structures. At least 50 feet is recommended between vehicles/structures.
*Grand Prize will be presented to the 47th largest Northern Pike by weight, (or the largest Northern Pike if fewer than 47 are caught.) There are also prizes for Bass, Walleye & Pan fish.
*Awards will be presented at 3:30 PM at the Derby H.Q.
